Coaches,
We hope that you will continue coaching your teams for the spring season that starts March 24. Please remember that you have to register each year online to coach. If you haven't already, please send an email to your team reminding them that registration ends on February 19th. If they register before that date, they will be on the same team.
We have our Rec coaching meeting on February 28th. U4-7 will meet from 5:30-6:30 and the u8-14 coaches will meet from 6:45-7:45 pm here at the soccer office. Please remember that each team must have a referee this spring. Referee's can register online as well and the free volunteer classes are posted online under the referee tab.
Here is our spring coaching seminars. We recommend that each coach attend these session to help you with coaching and managing your teams. Included this season, we will have a U9-U10 goalkeepers session to help you with your keepers.Field Sessions for Recreation Coaches:When: Saturday, March 3U4-U6 – 9am-10amU7-U8 – 10:15-11:30U9-U14 – 12-1:15Cost – Free Instructor – the course will be run by Shaun Howe (Grand Junction Soccer Club Director of Coaching/CYS Instructor) and Peter Hemmendinger. Date – Saturday, March 3rd. Register – Call or email Shaun at 242-4550 or Shaun@gjsoccer.org (I will need your name, email, and the age you coach) Location – Canyon View next to the Gunnison Pavilion. How the course works – Come on out and we will go through age appropriate sessions with you. Please bring a ball and soccer attire. What will be covered in this session? – We will cover the Foundation of Goalkeeping. This session will include basic handling, hand distribution, basic positioning, shooting games, goalkeeper methodology and a pregame warm-up.
